Japan has the most daily smokers, but they live the longest. Only the Canadians and Swedes have less than the US, but they also live longer I believe. So the US is either smoking a little too much or not enough:)

I think Americans need to focus on their diets instead of smoking.

It's not that the Japanese have better healthcare, but that they smoke in moderation and have an extremely healthy diet, with lots of fresh foods.

In response to Ioanna, Greece is first in cigarette consumption, with 4,313 being the approximate average number of cigarettes smoked per adult per year. That works out to about 12 cigarettes per person per day. Japan is fourth at 3,023 cigarettes smoked per person per year. That equals a little over eight cigarettes per day for every Japanese adult.
